growing up with a semi-unique name (which is becoming less and less unique), i am always excited about things that have my name on them or my initials. it really doesn't matter what the item is...just that it has a bit of me on it.

i was shopping at neiman marcus today and found these. of course, i still work for a non-profit, so i could not afford them...but i will get a pair soon. and how chic is it that they are all named for los angeles locations.

i know i am due for an update. what can i say - school finished, it was hard. christmas was good. the pup is good (pics). yl is good (pics).

messy ministry
i grew up in church where i learned to spottingly serve people. missions trips were something you do over spring break. feeding the homeless was something you did for thanksgiving. providing gifts to kids who's parents are in prison was something you did for christmas.

and then you went home.

i want to learn how to not go home. i think i am beginning to understand dependence on God (i know this is absurd that i am 28, grew up in church, and i feel like i am only beginning this). check out what rick warren is doing, along these lines. kind of silly, but i appreciate the gesture. he's right, christians have ignored aids for a long time now. they went home.

kirk franklin was on oprah
yesterday talking about porn. yeah. it was a very interesting show, and one that will repeat and oprah herself will do again. i mean, here is a christian talking about some really ugly, messy stuff. but that's christianity. messy. and involved.
