it doesn't matter who sarah is |
and it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to Father Time as i stared at my shoes in the icu that reeked of piss and 409 and i rationed my breaths as i said to myself that i'd already taken too much today as each descending peak on the lcd took you a little farther away from me
amongst the vending machines and year-old magazines in a place where we only say goodbye it stung like a violent wind that our memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds but i knew that you were a truth i would rather lose than to have never lain beside at all and i looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the tv entertained itself
'cause there's no comfort in the waiting room just nervous pacers bracing for bad news and then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads but i'm thinking of what sarah said: that "love is watching someone die"
so who's gonna watch you die?
you should get this.
i apologize for not writing something that i wrote myself, but this song really hit me tonight. i haven't had much to say in general recently. i find the words of others to be more important than mine.
this weekend i went back to washington and i found myself not knowing how to answer, "so how is la?" it's a pretty simple question that perhaps should have been answered by a simple, "great", because it is great. it just is. i just am. and i am happy. |

darn lost for being such a good show! i think i'm ruined for flying now. i can't seem to board a plane without looking at each passenger just a little longer to wonder what their story is and if they would be useful for survival on an island*.
if you're a fan of lost too, you should check this out.
*thanks to paul for pointing out that there is no island between los angeles and indianapolis. |

just another day in hollywood |
when you live in los angeles and travel to other parts of the country, people often get the impression that you are constantly mingling with celebrities. although i have had many run-ins with people in the media, the shoulder brushings actually happens less often than you might think especially considering how many people are forced to share a slow freeway around here.
well i've been in hollywood for several months now and i did notice that my average celebrity sighting quota was quite lower than it could be. but my glamorous lifestyle (yeah, right) of being in hollywood has recently changed. while shopping at ikea last week i got to see john bruce and his assistant picking out some vases for some lucky homeowner i'm sure. (do you suppose he shops at ikea for himself?)
last night we had a commercial filmed at my apartment building - which put quite the damper on bogart's bathroom habbits. the commercial is for state farm and consisted of a hip looking guy in a silver honda who is about to get out of his car when a gold minivan drives by and rips his car door off. it was interesting to watch one take of the stunt (which took about 15 minutes, by the way), but it really did get annoying to hear a car crash every 15 minutes throughout the night. and i feel bad for the people in the front of the building who also had to have the daytime lights shining through their windows. but such is life here - keep an eye out for the commercial when it airs and you'll see the fancy enterance gates to my building in the background.
and finally this morning my sister and i ate breakfast at a cafe with a repeat celebrity offender in my life - the dad from the fresh prince of bel air. i was with natalie when we saw him the first time years ago and he has lost some weight. still a huge guy though. |
